The two journals I am working on have so many different creative processes included in them. There are Distress Oxide Spray backgrounds, Gel Plate printing backgrounds and embellishments, stamping, stenciling, heat embossing, and collage. I am finding that you can include almost everything in journals. My first love is creating scrapbook albums, but I find creating journals allow more freedom. I think everything needs a purpose when making a scrapbook, such as a photo mat, a journaling spot, or an embellishment that seems to make sense with the over all creation. With the journals, as long as there is writing space anything goes. The mixed media aspects that can be added to the journals are fun to play with and I know I won't ever be as good as the creators on You Tube are. I aspire to be as good as Tim Holtz and members of his design team but realize that is a special talent.
Another You Tube creator that is awe inspiring is Luise Heinzl. What that girl creates is jaw dropping. I tried to grunge up the pages of these journals like she has done in a couple of videos. I couldn't be quite as aggressive with the hammer as she was-maybe next time I can let go!
What creators on You Tube do you love to follow?
Love the gelli print circles and bubble wrap? Interesting journaling on that page. Yep Luise Heinzl is phenomenal. The YT people I follow each offer something different and unique. Roxy Creations, Ceri the Crafter, ShabbyDabbyDooDah, Treasure Books, Catherine Brown Clark/Sunnyside Studio, Sevenplaza, Tonya Samuels.
